Exam Details

It is mandatory to wear a FACE MASK on the premises of the Test Centre and tofollow GOI COVID-19 guidelines and the Institute’s COVID-19 policy.

ISI Admission Test 2021: Applications are invited from eligible candidates for admission to the Degree and Diploma programs listed below as well as Junior Research Fellowships offered bythe Indian Statistical Institute.

Candidates who are due to complete the qualifying examination before 01 July, 2021 may also apply. Stipends/Fellowships as mentionedagainst each programme will be available to the deserving candidates subject tosatisfying the minimum academic qualification.

Test Type: You will appear for the tests of the following types:

(i) Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): In this type of test, there arethirty (30) questions in total.

For each question, four answer-choicesare given, of which only one answer-choice is correct or the best.

The questions are numbered as 1, 2, 3 etc., and the answer-choicesfor each question are marked as (A), (B), (C) and (D).

An answersheet (OMR Sheet) will be given with the test booklet for indicatingyour answers.

Try to answer as many questions as you can, however you will be penalized for each wrong answer.

You will find the grading scheme on the question booklet.

You will score

  • 4 marks for each correctly answered question,
  • 0 mark for each incorrectly answered question, and
  • 1 mark for each unattempted question.

(ii) Descriptive type: This type of test will normally take place in the Afternoon session. In this type of test, you are expected to write theanswers, supplying all the details, in a separate answer booklet given to you.

Rules for (MCQ) tests:

You will be given a Question Booklet containing the questions and a separate answer-sheet called Optical Mark Recognition (OMR) Answer sheet to indicate your answers

On the OMR sheet:

  1. Use only a BALL PEN with BLACK ink to write on the OMR sheet.
  2. While writing in boxes (?), please use CAPITAL LETTERS.
  3. Do NOT write more than one letter / digit in one box.
  4. Rough work must NOT be done on the OMR Answer Sheet.
  5. Do NOT fold the OMR answer sheet.

Date of Admission Test: Sunday, 18 July 2021 (25 July for JST)

Reporting Time: 10:00 a.m.

Tests will be held in two halves (except for DST, DSD and DAR):

Forenoon Session: 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Afternoon Session: 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. (except for DST, DSD, DAR)

Bachelor of Mathematics (B.Math) (Hons) (3 year)

This program is offered only at Bengaluru

Eligibility: Candidate pass 10+2 with Mathematics and English as subjects from recognised institute/ university.

 

Master of Statistics (M.Stat) (2 year)

This program is offered only at Kolkata, Delhi.

Eligibility:  Candidate pass a three-year Bachelor’s Degree or a B.E/B.Tech Degree with Statistics as a subject, or

B.Math Degree from ISI, or

Post-Graduate Diploma in Statistical Methods and Analytics from ISI.

 

Master of Mathematics (M.Math) (2 year)

This program is offered only at Bengaluru.

Eligibility: Candidate has to pass  a three year Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, or

B.E/B.Tech Degree, with Mathematics as a subject, or

B.Stat degree from ISI.

 

Master of Science in Quantitative Economics [MS (QE)] (2 year)

This program is offered at Kolkata and Delhi.

Eligibility: Candidate pass Bachelor’s Degree (of at least 3-year duration) in any discipline and passed the 12th standard examination with Mathematics as a subject. 

 

Master of Science in Quality Management Science [MS (QMS)] (2 year)

This program is offered at  Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

Eligibility: Candidate pass a three-year Bachelor’s Degree with Mathematics as a subject, or a B.E/ B.Tech Degree in any discipline.

 

Master of Science in Library and Information Science [MS (LIS)] (2 year)

This program is offered only at Bengaluru.

Eligibility: Applicant has to pass three-year Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline.

 

Master of Technology in Computer Science [M.Tech (CS)] (2 year)

This program is offered only at Kolkata.

 

Master of Technology in Cryptology and Security [M.Tech (CrS)] (2 year)

This programme is offered only at Kolkata.

Eligibility: Candidate pass Master’s Degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics/ Electronic Science/ Computer Science/ Computer Applications/ Information Technology, or  a B.E/ B.Tech Degree or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE or, GRAD-IETE or, DOEACC ’B’ Level).

 

Master of Technology in Quality, Reliability & Operations Research [M.Tech (QROR)] (2 year)

This program is offered only at Kolkata.

Eligibility:  Pass (i) a Master’s Degree in Statistics with Physics and Chemistry at the (10+2) level;

or

(ii) a Master’s Degree in Mathematics with Statistics as a subject at undergraduate or post-graduate level, and Physics and Chemistry at the (10+2) level; or

(iii) a B.E/B.Tech Degree or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as  AMIE).

 

The program is offered in two streams:

  • Statistics Stream for candidates with qualifications (i) or (ii) mentioned above;
  • Engineering Stream for candidates with an undergraduate degree in Engineering or Technology as in (iii) above. 

 

Postgraduate Diploma in Statistical Methods & Analytics  (1 year)

This program is offered at Chennai and the ISI North-East Centre, Tezpur

Eligibility: Applicant pass  three-year Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with Mathematics as a subject; a B.E/B.Tech Degree or any other qualification considered equivalent (such as AMIE).

Further, the domiciled candidates of the North-Eastern states of India must have a domicile certificate of North-Eastern states from a recognized authority.

Statistics:  Candidate  mus have M.Stat Degree from ISI, or M.A/M.Sc. or equivalent Degree in Statistics.

Mathematics: Candidate must have M.Stat/ M.Math Degree from ISI, or M.A/ M.Sc. or equivalent Degree in Mathematics, or M.E/ M.Tech Degree or equivalent with Mathematics as a subject.

Quantitative Economics: Candidate  must have Master’s Degree in any discipline with Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics as a subject at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Computer Science: Candidate  must have M.E/ M.Tech or equivalent Master’s Degree in Electronics/ Telecommunication/ Radio Physics/ Computer Science/ Electrical Engineering/ Microwave Communications/ Information Technology/ Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology with Mathematics as a subject at the undergraduate or postgraduate level, or  an M.Sc./ MCA/ M.A or equivalent Master’s Degree in Physics/ Mathematics/ Applied Mathematics/ Statistics/ Electronic Sciences/ Computer Science/ Atmospheric Science/ Information Technology/ Bioinformatics/ Biotechnology with Mathematics as a subject at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Quality, Reliability & Operations Research (QROR): Candidate  mus have M.Tech/ M.E/ MS/ M.Phil or equivalent Degree in Quality/ Reliability/ Operations Research, or M.Stat/ M.Sc./ M.A or equivalent Degree in Mathematics/ Statistics/ Physics with Mathematics as a subject at the undergraduate or postgraduate level.

Fees

Application Fee: 

• Rs.1250/- for all Male applicants in the unreserved (General) category

• Rs.750/- for all Female applicants in the unreserved (General) category

• Rs. 625/- for reserved (OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD) category candidates

Mode of payment:

For online application, the application fee will be collectedthrough the State Bank of India Collect website.

The payment can be made using NetBanking, Debit/ Credit Card or through Challan for cash payment at the SBI Branch.

Candidate needs to pay additional bank charges.

Admission process

Application to the programs being offered by Indian Statistical Institute in the academic year 2021-22 must be done online through the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) Admission Portal link available at

https://www.isical.ac.in/~admission

An account will be created for the applicant in the portal, through which s/hecan conveniently fill up the application form and also make payment of the application fee aftersubmission of the form.

For this purpose, an applicant must have access to the

  • Access to Internet
  • an email account
  • digital copy of his/her photograph
  • scanned copy of signature
  • Acrobat reader and
  • a printer for printing the admit card.

Admit Card

Admit Card: Applicants who have paid the application fee successfully will receive a link,through their registered e-mail, for downloading the admit card by 30 June 2021.

After that date, the same can also be downloaded from the Dashboard of their account at the applicationportal.

The admit card will contain the name, photograph, signature and registration number ofthe candidate, test centre, test code and the date of test.

The applicants will be required to carry hard copies of the admit card to the test centres on the day of the Admission Test.

In all subsequent correspondence, the applicant should quote the Registration Number without which no correspondence will be entertained.

The Admit Card has

(1) your registration number,

(2) the Centre (with address) where you must appear for the tests,

(3) the codes of the tests tobe taken in the Forenoon and the Afternoon sessions.

The Admit card also has two boxes where you will sign in the Forenoon and Afternoon halves (asapplicable) of the Test in front of the Supervisor/Invigilator.

You will have to return the admit card during the Forenoon session, if your program code isDST, DSD or DAR. Otherwise, you have to return it in the Afternoon Session.
