Exam Details

National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA ) is being conducted by COA since 2006, in terms of the provisions of CoA (Minimum Standards of Architectural Education) Regulations, 1983, published in the Gazette of India. It is implied that a separate aptitude test in .Architecture should be conducted and such test should not be combined with the tests for admissions to Engineering, Pharmacy, Medicine and other disciplines. Being the competent authority for fixing norms and standards for architectural institutions, COA has the necessary expertise to hold a Common Aptitude Test in Architecture, at national level to provide a single window system for appearing in aptitude test and to facilitate institutions, students and public at large for admission to First year of 5 year B.Arch Degree Course at all recognized Institutions all over country.

Pattern of Questions and Mode of Answering:

The aptitude test will comprise of questions that could be of the Multiple-Choice type (MCQ), MultipleSelect type (MSQ), Preferential Choice type (PCQ) and Numerical Answer type (NAQ).

The questions will carry either 1 mark,2 marks or 3 marks and 125 questions have to be answered in 180minutes

The medium of Aptitude test will be the English language.

The distribution of marks is outlined as follows:

Mathematics (20 Questions Carrying 2 marks each) 40

General Aptitude (40 Questions carrying 2 marks each) 80

Drawing (2 Questions Carrying 40 marks each) 80

Total: 200

Result format:

Results will be available in the website www.nata.in which will be announced in various electronic/printing media before declaration of results.

The result will be available in two formats:

1. Marks obtained out of 200 and in each component

2. Pass/Fail

Qualifying marks for NATA 2021 would be based on the following rules:

1. At least 25% must be secured in MCQ portion (30 out of 120)

2. At least 25% must be secured in Drawing portion (20 out of 80)

3. Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council.

Candidate will not qualify in NATA 2021 unless (s)he satisfies all three conditions mentioned above.

The result sheet will be display the following:

1. Marks obtained in each Part of the exam and out of 200

2. Pass/Fail

Qualifying marks for NATA 2021 would be based on the following rules:

  1. A minimum of 32 marks out of 125 marks must be secured in Part A (approximately 25%)
  2. A minimum of 18 marks out of 75 marks must be secured in Part B (approximately25% )
  3. Overall qualifying marks (out of 200) would be based on post-exam statistics and at the discretion of the Council.

A Candidate will not qualify in NATA 2021 unless he/ she satisfies all three conditions mentioned above.

Procedures to be followed in the Examination at Test Centres

The candidates will have to follow the time schedule as follows:

(a) Report to the Examination Center by 9.00 am

(b) Opening gate to the examination hall at 9.15 am

(c) Registration of candidate to be completed by 9.45 am

(d) Closing gate to the examination hall at 10.00 am

(e) Commencement of examination at 10.00 am

(f) Duration of examination: 10.00 am to 1.00 pm

Late entry of candidates will not be permitted in the examination hall after 10.15 am pm and no extra time shall be granted. Exit from the examination centre shall not be allowed before 1.00 pm.  Candidates must bring with them:

i. Downloaded Admit Card of NATA- 2021.

ii. Original Proof of Identity- Aadhar/ Passport/ Driving License/ Voter ID.

Candidates must show on demand the Admit Card (NATA- 2021) for entry to the Examination Hall. A candidate not possessing print out of the downloaded admit card and valid photo identity shall not be allowed to enter in the Examination Hall by the Center-in-Charge.

A photograph of the candidate will be taken at the Centre before the candidate is indicated his seat for taking the examination. The seat will be randomly allotted to the candidate on completing the procedure.

Schedule

Examination shall be conducted in one session on the date of the first test and on the second date of the test.Second session for examination may be considered in the event of any restrictions imposed by the Government on the number of candidates appearing in a single session due to social distancing norms owing to pandemic Covid-19. The session during which the candidate will take the test will be allotted by the Council and Centre allotment will be done on the basis of choice provided by the candidate in the application form for preferred city for taking examination.

First NATA Examination: 10/04/2021 (Saturday)

Session 1: 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 pm (180 mins/3.0 hours)

Session 2 (if required): 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm (180 mins/ 3.0 hours) 

 

Second NATA Examination: 12/06/2021 (Saturday)

Session 1: 10.00 am to 1.00 pm (180 mins/ 3.0 hours)

Session 2 (if required): 2.30 pm – 5.30 pm (180 mins/ 3.0 hours)

Eligibility

Passed 10+2 exam with minimum 50% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics and also 50% marks in aggregate at 10+2 level examination.

Reservation as well as relaxation in qualifying marks for the reserved category for the purpose of admission isa prerogative of the Admission/ Counselling Authority and does not fall under the purview of this examination.

Fees

Application fee payable by a candidate applying for NATA 2021, for any one test is Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two thousand only) payable through ONLINE mode.

Application fee payable by a Candidate who wishes to apply for both first and second test is Rs 4000/- (Rupees Four thousand only).

Application Fee payable by candidates belonging to SC/ST and PWD and transsexual category  for any one test is Rs 1500/- (Rupees One thousand five hundred only) and for both tests is Rs 3000/- (Rupees three thousand hundred only)

Application fee payable Candidates opting to appear from test centres outside the territory of India is Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten thousand only) for any one test and Rs. 20,000/- (Rupees Twenty thousand only) for both the tests through online mode. Candidates from outside of the Indian Territory who have registered to do the test in India and at a later date opt to take the examination from outside of Indian Territory due to restrictions in travel will remit the balance fee as applicable.

Admission process

Filling up the application form is in two stages as outlined:

Stage I – Registration Process

Step 1: Visit NATA portal at www.nata.in or Click here to Apply Online.

Step 2: Click on Register Now button and it will take you to the Login Page.

Step 3: Again click Register Now button for signing up the User Account Registration. Fill-in the MANDATORY fields and click on Sign up.

Step 4: Once you have successfully signed up. Click on Login to continue, login with your chosen credentials.

Note: To create your credentials candidates are required to provide a login ID and password.

 

Stage II Submission of Application Form 

Step 1: Login into NATA 2021 portal with chosen credentials, and Click on Apply Now button which will be directed to the application form.

Step 2: Fill-in the MANDATORY fields.

Step 3: Upload the required documents and click on Preview button to preview the filled in application form then click on Submit button to submit the form. Once the form is submitted, no changes will be entertained, so carefully fill-in the application form.

Step 4: Once the application form submitted, it will be redirected to Payment Gateway page. Kindly provide the required inputs for payment process.

Step 5: Upon successful fee payment, you will get land up in confirmation page contains Application No and Transaction No., kindly take a printout of it as a proof of application form submission.

Admit Card

Candidate has to download the soft copy of the Admit Card from the website and has to appear in theexamination with a printed hard copy at the concerned Examination Centre indicated in the downloaded Admit Card along with one original photo identity card- Voter Card/ Pan Card/ Aadhar Card/ Driving Licence.
