Punjab Engineering College (PEC),  situated in Sector 12 at the north end of Chandigarh. The premises of the college is within a few minutes walk from the Punjab and Haryana Civil Secretariat, the Panjab University, Post graduate Institute Of Medical Education And Research (PGI). The campus is 9 Km from the Chandigarh Railway station and 5 Km from the main Bus Stand.

The institute became Deemed University in 2003 through a MHRD notification and rechristened as PEC University of Technology in 2009. It is a Grant-in-Aid institution under administration of Union Territory of Chandigarh, Government of India.
