Exam Details

Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) are institutions of national importance established through Acts of Parliament for fostering excellence in education. Over the years, IITs have created a world class educational platform that is dynamically sustained through quality teaching and internationally acclaimed research with excellent infrastructure and the best available minds. The faculty and alumni of IITs occupy key positions in academia and industry, both in India and abroad, and continue to make considerable impact on all sections of the society. At present, there are twenty-three IITs across the country.

The Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) 2021 [JEE (Advanced) 2021] will be conducted by the seven Zonal (IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Madras, IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee or Indian Institute of Science (IISc) Bangalore) Coordinating (ZC) IITs under the guidance of the Joint Admission Board (JAB) 2021. The performance of a candidate in this examination will form the basis for admission to the Bachelor’s, Integrated Master’s and Dual Degree programs (entry at the 10+2 level) in all the IITs.

The decisions of the JAB 2021 will be final in all matters related to JEE (Advanced) 2021 and admission to IITs.

Reservation of Seats

Indian nationals belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them in accordance with the rules of the Government of India. The categories and the extent of reservation are as follows:

  • Other Backward Classes (OBC-NCL): 27% of seats in every course.
  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 15% of seats in every course.
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 7.5% of seats in every course.
  • Persons with Disability (PwD):  5% seats in each of OPEN, GEN-EWS, OBC- NCL, SC and ST category seats.
  • General category: 50.5% seats are Open for all others.

Other Institutes

Some centrally funded institutes have used JEE (Advanced) ranks in the past. These include:

  • Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc)
  • Indian Institutes of Science Education and Research (IISERs) located in Berhampur, Bhopal, Kolkata, Mohali, Pune, Thiruvananthapuram and Tirupati
  • Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology (IIST), Thiruvananthapuram
  • Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT), Rae Bareli
  • Indian Institute of Petroleum & Energy, Visakhapatnam

Schedule

JEE Advanced 2021 will be conducted on 03 July 2021 (Saturday)

Eligibility

Only those candidates who were born on or after 1st October 1997, are eligible to apply in JEE Advanced 2021.

In case of SC/ST/PWD category students are provided with a relaxation of 5 years.

Both Indian and foreign nationals are eligible for this examination.

Previous year, 75% criteria has been scrapped for this year as well.

Candidates are required to qualify the JEE Main and be among the top-ranking students.

The maximum number of attempts for JEE Advanced is two.

Syllabus

JEE Advanced 2021 Syllabus

Physics: General, Thermal Physics, Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, Modern Physics

Chemistry: Organic and inorganic chemistry, Physical chemistry

Mathematics: Analytical geometry, algebra, trigonometry, integral calculus, differential calculus, vectors

Architecture aptitude: Geometrical drawing, freehand drawing, architectural awareness, imagination and aesthetic sensitivity, three-dimensional perception.

Payment can be done through online modes include- payment via net banking, credit/debit card etc.

Offline payments can be made through e-challan method of State Bank of India.

Admission process

All Indian nationals (including OCI/PIO) should satisfy each and every one of the five eligibility criteria. Registration will be cancelled if, at a later date, it is found that the candidate does not meet any of these five eligibility criteria.

Registration Portal: Candidates MUST register for appearing in JEE (Advanced) 2021.

Registration is only through the online registration portal where detailed instructions for registration will be provided.

The procedure consists of three basic steps.

Step-1: After login, provide the basic data and the choices of the cities for the examination. The candidate will have the option of adding an additional mobile phone number and an additional email id, in addition to the number(s) provided during JEE (Main) 2021 registration. Please note that all the correspondence regarding JEE (Advanced) 2021 will be sent to the registered mobile number by SMS and/or to the registered email id by email.

Step-2: Upload the scanned copies of all requisite documents

Step-3: Pay registration fee. Registration fee is NEITHER refundable NOR transferable.

Admit Card

JEE Advanced 2021 Admit Card

The admit card for the JEE Advanced 2021 will be out by May 2021.  

Candidate can follow steps to download admit card.

Log in to the official portal using their application number and password.

Upon logging in, candidates will be able to download the admit card.

The admit card will contain the details of the examination date and the venue for the examination.

Candidates  should take a print out of the admit card and carry the same during the examination.

Test Centres

The JEE (Advanced) 2021 examination will be conducted only in the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.
