North Eastern Hill University (NEHU): Admissions 2023

North Eastern Hill University  (NEHU) invites eligibile candidates for admissions to the following programs for the academic year 2023-2024

Master in Library and Information Sciences (MLIS) ( 1 year)

Eligibility: Candidates holding a 3-year Degree in any subject from recognised university/ institute.

Minimum marks shall be securing 50% (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST).

Selection Process: Valid Score in Admission Test.

M.Sc. (2 year)

Specialization:

• Statistics
• Rural Development and Agricultural Production
• Environmental Science
• Plant Molecular Biology
• Biotechnology
• Anthropology 

Eligibility:  

M.Sc. in Statistics: Candidate should be a Graduate with Statistics  and Mathematics as a pass subject, graduate with Mathematics (Majors) and Statistics as a pass subject or B.A./B.Sc. with Mathematics and Statistics as pass subjects.

M.Sc. in Rural Development and Agricultural Production:  Candidates with a B.Sc. Degree in Agriculture and those having B.Sc. with Zoology, Botany, Horticulture, Forestry or Biochemistry are also eligible to apply.

M.Sc.  in Environmental Science: Candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree (Majors) in Environmental Science /Botany /Zoology /Chemistry / Biotechnology /Biochemistry /Geography /Geology/Forestry are eligible to apply.

M.Sc. in Plant Molecular Biology:  Pass B.Sc. exam with Botany /Biotechnology/ Biochemistry/ Microbiology /Chemistry (with Botany/Zoology/ Chemistry /Biochemistry as one of the papers).

M.Sc. Biotechnology – Candidates with a B.Sc./B.Tech. Degree in Biotechnology are eligible to apply.

M.Sc. in Anthropology: First preference to candidates with Majors in Anthropology, second preference to candidates with Major in Geography, Sociology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Home Science and Mass Communication.

LLM (2 year) 

Eligibility: Candidates must hold LLB Degree from recognised university/ institute.

Minimum marks shall be obtained 55% for General candidates and 50% for SC/ST candidates in LL.B. or  equivalent examination.

M.Ed (2 year)

Eligibility: Candidate should have obtained 55% marks.

5% will be relaxable for SC/ST candidates or  equivalent grade in the  following program:

(i)      B.Ed

(ii)    BA BEd, BSc BEd

(iii) D.EI.Ed with an under Graduate Degree(with 55% marks in each).

M.A (2 year)

Eligibility:

M.A. in  Anthropology: Candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology will be given first preference, second preference to candidates with the subject Geography, Sociology, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Home Science and Mass Communication.
 
M.A. in Philosophy: Candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree with  Philosophy, second preference to candidates with Majors in any subject and simple pass in Philosophy (with a minimum of 40% marks), general Pass in Philosophy (with a minimum 50% marks in Philosophy and at least 45% marks in aggregate). Students with Bachelor of Divinity and a minimum of 60% marks are considered along with the general pass.

M.A. in Education:  Candidate should hold a B.A Degree in Education  with minimum marks of 50%.

Candidate with 55% marks in B.Ed (Theory) are also eligible to apply for admission to M.A. in Education course.

There is 5%  relaxation for SC/ST candidates.

M.A. in Linguistics: A candidate should be holding a Bachelor’s Degee in any discipline  securing an aggregate of 50%.

In case of SC/ST category, 5%  relaxation will be provided.

Selection will be based on admission test and relevant NEHU criteria.

M.A. in Adult & Continuing Education:  Candidate should be a Graduate with  any discipline with minimum of 50% marks (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST).

 M.A. in Political Science: Candidates holding Degree of B.A. Honos  in Political Science are eligibile for the course.

M.A. in History & Archaeology: Candidates having History/Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology/Ancient History/Archaeology at Under Graduate level from a recognized university/ institution with a minimum of 50% marks.

In case of SC/ST candidate there is relaxation of 5%.

M.A. in Journalism & Mass Communication: Candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree (Majors) of three year or more duration in any discipline securing an aggregate of 50% (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST. Selection will be based on admission test and relevant NEHU criteria.

M.A. in Sociology: Candidate holding Hons Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology.

M.A. in English:  Candidate should hold Bachelor's Degree in English with minimum 45%. 

M.Com (2 year)

Eligibility:  Candidates should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline from recognised university/ institute.

Minimum 45% marks in aggregate is required for B.Com (Hons) level.

M. Phil Program (1 year)

Eligibility:  Candidates holding a Master's Degree in related discipline from recognised university/ institute.

Minimum marks shall be obtained 55%.

Candidate belonging to SC/ST category will be given relaxation.

Ph.D Program (3 year)

Eligibility:  Candidates holding Master's Degree in related discipline from recognised university/ institute.

Minimum marks shall be obtained 55%.

Candidate belonging to SC/St category will be given relaxation.

NEHU: Professional Courses

BA LLB (Hons) (5 year)

Eligibility: Candidate who has passed  10+2 examination  or its equivalent with not less than 50% marks in aggregate for General and 45% for SC/ST from a recognized university/board are eligible for admission into this course. 

Selection Process: Admission shall be made according to merit list prepared by the department based on the performance of candidates in a written test conducted by the department, subject to the fulfillment of all other criteria.

Fees: Rs.7800/- Per Semester

B.Tech (4 year)

Specialization:

• Biomedical Engineering
• Electronics & Communication Engineering
• Energy Engineering
• Information Technology

Eligibility: Candidates who have passed 10+2 in Science stream or its equivalent from any recognized board having secured  a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry Biotechnology/Biology/Technical  Vocational subjects (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST candidates) are eligible for admission to this course.

Selection Process: Valid Score in Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) (Main) 

Fees: Rs. 18,000/- Per Semester

B.Arch (5 year)

Eligibility:  Candidates passed 10+2 with at least 50% marks in Science with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects of the examination.

Or

Pass 10+3 years diploma recognized by the Central/State Government with minimum of least at 50% marks in aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as compulsory subjects of the examination during the course of study.     

Selection Process: Valid Score in NATA.

MBA General:  Candidate holding a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) aggregate marks from a recognized Indian or Foreign university/institution.

MBA in Service Management: Candidate holding a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline with minimum 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) aggregate marks from a recognized Indian or Foreign university/institution.

MBA  in Agri-Business & Food Technology: Candidate holding Bachelor's Degree with minimum 55% in B.Sc. (Life Sciences/ Zoology, Botany, Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Micro-biology, Bio-Chemistry, Food Preservation, Agriculture, Food Technology) or any graduate in  Agriculture Science/Technology/ Animal Husbandry shall be considered for admission. In case of SC/ST candidates minimum marks shall be obtained 45%. 

Selection Process for all above streams: Valid Score in MAT, Group Discussion and Interview.

Aggregate percentage of MAT score: 80%

Group discussion: 10%

Personal interview: 10%

MCA (3 year)

Eligibility:  Candidates who have passed Bachelor's Degree of minimum 3 years duration by securing a minimum of 50% (45% in case of SC/ST) marks or equivalent grade.

Selection Process: Valid Score in Entrance Test.

Master of Tourism and Travel Management (MTTM) (2 year)

Eligibility: Candidates with a 3 year Bachelor’s Degree Course  or its equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university/institute with minimum of 50% marks in aggregate or equivalent (45% for SC/ST candidates) shall ordinarily be considered for admission. Students appearing in the final examination and expecting their results by July, 2020 may also apply.

Selection Process: Valid Score in MAT.

Non-sponsored Indian students: Rs. 14,400/- Per Semester

Sponsored students: Rs. 36000/- Per Semester

M.Sc. in Horticulture (2 year)

Eligibility: Candidates  who has passed B.Sc.(Hort.) / B.Sc.(Agri.) with a minimum 55% or equivalent.

In case of SC/ST category, minimum 50% marks required.

Fees: Rs. 7200/- Per Semester

North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) Admission Process 2023

Interested candidate applying for the above programs has to apply online on payment of Rs. 800/- and

Rs. 400/- for SC/ST category and

Ph.D Program  Rs. 500/- and

Rs. 250/- (for SC/ ST category)

The payment will be done online using Debit Card/ Credit Card/ Net Banking through SBI  and HDFC Bank.

The admission fee is not refundable.
