National Law University (NLU): Law Courses Admission 2023

The National Law University (NLU) Delhi invites applications for admission to BA LLB (Hons), LLM and Ph.D programs for the academic year 2022-2023

Eligibility, total seats and other details for these Programs are as under:

BA LLB ( 5 year)

Seats: 80

Eligibility: Candidates should have passed the 10+2 examination and scored a minimum of 50%. 

Candidates should be less than 21 years of age or 23 years in case of SC/ST candidates

Students under the Foreign Nationals Category  should secure 65% marks in the Higher Secondary School Examination of (10+2) system or an equivalent examination.

They are exempted from taking the admission test.

The candidates belonging to OCI/PIO category shall have the option to either apply under the Foreign National Category or under the category of Indian students.

In case the OCI/PIO candidate apply under the category of Indian National, they have to appear in the All Indian Law Entrance Test along with other students.

Seats Distribution:

  • 70 Seats on merit through AILET.
  • 10 Seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit (5 seats for Foreign Nationals & 5 seats for OCI/PIO)].

Foreign Nationals are exempted from AILET.

Reservation: 15% for SC candidates, 7.5% for ST candidates and 5% for Persons with Disabilities.

Note: 01 Additional supernumerary seat for Kashmiri Migrants.

02 Additional supernumerary seats for Residents of Jammu & Kashmir. 

Fees: Rs. 85,000/- Per Year

LLM (1 year)

Seats: 80

Eligibility: Candidate need to secure LLB Degree or an equivalent examination with a minimum 55% (50 % for reserved category )

Candidates appearing in the qualifying examination in April/May of  2020 are also eligible to apply.

Foreign Nationals Candidates exempted from test.

Seats Distribution:

  • 70 Seats on merit through AILET.
  • 10 Seats for direct admission to Foreign Nationals on merit (5 seats for Foreign Nationals & 5 seats for OCI/PIO)].

Foreign Nationals are exempted from AILET.

Ph.D (3 year)

Eligibility: Candidate should have obtained a Master’s Degree in law from any recognised university securing not less than 55% marks or its equivalent (50% in case of SC/ST/ persons with disability)

or

Obtained a Degree in law and a Master's Degree with M. Phil in social sciences or humanities of any recognised university with not less than 55% marks or its equivalent

Provided that candidates with qualifications in social sciences and humanities may be admitted to the program if the research they wish to pursue interfaces with the discipline of law with a special focus on Public Policy of Law.

or

 Degree in law and Ph.D in any discipline.

or

 Judge of any State High Court in India with three years’ experience or Judge of Supreme Court of India. 

Selection Process: Valid Score in AILET.

Fees: Rs. 1,18,000/- Total

Application fee Rs.3,050/- (Rupees Three Thousand Fifty Only) for General Candidates, Rs. 1,050/- (Rupees One thousand Fifty only) in case of SC/ST and Persons with Disabilities (PD) along with copy of requisite Caste/Persons with Disabilities Certificate.

Below Poverty Line (BPL) applicants of SC/ST Category are exempted from application fee.
