Eligibility and Selection Procedure for PhD in National Institute of Technology - Meghalaya Categories of Ph. D. Students: The Institute shall admit Ph. D students under the following categories: I. Full Time: Scholars under this category shall work full time for the Ph.D. courses/ research. They may receive fellowship offered by the Institute as per MHRD norms / TEQIP guidelines or other funding agencies. II Sponsored (part-time): Employees from Industries, Corporate Houses, Research and Development (R&D) Organizations and Faculties of Senior Colleges with minimum working experience of 5 years, out of which 2 years should be from the current organization, will be eligible for applying to the Sponsored (Part Time) Ph.D. Programme. Candidates are not entitled to receive any fellowship or other financial assistance from Institute.
Eligibility Criteria for Admission into Ph. D. Programme: A. For Full Time Scholars: Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 75% marks or equivalent GPA with valid GATE score will also be eligible. B. For Sponsored (Part Time Scholars): Master’s degree in Engineering/ Science/ Technology/ Humanities and Social Sciences/ Management Sciences/ or Master’s degree in the allied subjects with consistently good academic record and a minimum of 60% (55% in case of Humanities and Social Sciences) marks or an equivalent CGPA in the Master’s degree. Candidates with B.E. / B. Tech. with an aggregate of 60% marks or equivalent CGPA are eligible. Candidate’s age should not be more than 58. A certificate/declaration of sponsorship from the sponsoring body must be submitted by the applicant at the time of applying for application and admission process. Relaxation for SC/ST/PWD Candidates: Eligibility criteria will be relaxed by 5% marks or 0.5 CGPA for SC/ST/PWD category applicants as per GOI Norms.

Application Procedure for PhD in National Institute of Technology - Meghalaya Application Fees: Application fees of Rs. 500/- for General/OBC and Rs. 250 for SC/ST candidates to be paid via online. No application fee to be paid by PWD candidates. Before submitting the application candidates are advised to visit department webpages about research specializations and facilities available in the institute. How to Apply: STEP-I: candidates are advised to make the payment first as per category. STEP-II: fill the online application form. STEP-III: print out of online application form along with payment proof with all the testimonials (self-attested) to the mentioned address.
Selection Procedure: Eligible candidates may be required to appear for a written test in respect of his/ her discipline. Shortlisted candidates based on performance in the written test will be called for interview. Both written test and interview may be completed on the same day. It may be extended for one more day based on the number of candidates appearing for interview.
