Exam Details

A Common Entrance Test, designated as Education Common Entrance Test-2023 (APEdCET-2023) will be conducted by the CONVENER, APEdCET-2023, Department of Education, Andhra University, Vijayanagar Palace, Visakhapatnam-530017 on behalf of the Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) for admission into B.Ed. Regular Course and B.Ed. Special Education in the University /Government/ Aided and /Private Colleges of Education in Andhra Pradesh for the Academic Year 2023-2024

Scheme of Examination for AP EdCET-2023:

The common entrance test will be of objective type (multiple choices) examination.

Candidate has to answer 150 questions in two hours time.

Part-A: General English - 25 questions for 25 marks

Part-B: 1) General Knowledge - 15 questions for 15 marks

2) Teaching Aptitude - 10 questions for 10 marks

Part-C: Methodology: Candidate has to choose one of the following subjects. It consists of 100 questions for 100 marks.

1) Mathematics - 100 questions for 100marks

2) Physical Sciences - 100 questions for 100marks

(i) Physics - 50 questions for 50marks

(ii) Chemistry - 50 questions for 50marks

3) Biological Sciences - 100 questions for 100marks

(i) Botany - 50 questions for 50marks

(ii) Zoology - 50 questions for 50marks

4) Social Studies - 100 questions for 100marks

(i) Geography - 35 questions for 35marks

(ii) History - 30 questions for 30marks

(iii) Civics - 15 questions for 15marks

(iv) Economics - 20 questions for 20marks

5) English - 100 questions for 100marks

Note: Part - A and Part - B are common for all the candidates irrespective of Methodology chosen in Part-C.

The question paper will be in English and Telugu except for English methodology. However, candidates opting to write the Entrance Test in Urdu medium will be served with Urdu paper and such candidates shall opt Kurnool as Test Centre.

Eligibility

(i) The Candidates should be Indian Nationals.

(ii) The Candidates should satisfy Local/Non-Local status requirements as laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission) Order 1974 as subsequently amended.

(iii) Educational Qualifications:

(a) Candidates should have passed/appearing for final year examinations of B.A./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Home Science)/B.Com./ B.C.A./B.B.M. at the time of submitting the Application for APEdCET-2023.

Candidates are required to produce marks memo and pass certificate at the time of admission.

(b) Candidates should have secured a minimum of 50% marks either in the Bachelors Degree i.e., B.A./B.Sc./B.Sc. (Home Science)/B.Com./B.C.A./B.B.M and or in the PostGraduate Degree in relevant subject or 5 years integrated course in the relevant subject of methodology or any other qualification equivalent thereto. However the candidates belonging  to all other reserved categories S.C, S.T, B.C.(A/B/C/D/E), and physically handicapped should have secured a minimum of 40% marks in the qualifying examination.

Note: The candidates who passed B.E/ B.Tech. (with minimum of 55% of marks), with Mathematics, Physics are eligible for admission into the Course. 

Age Limit: The candidates should have completed the age of 19 years on the 1st of July in the year in which notification is issued. There shall be no maximum age limit.

Syllabus

Part- A General English

1. Reading Comprehension.

2. Correction of Sentences, Articles, Prepositions, Tenses, Spelling.

3. Vocabulary, Synonyms, Antonyms.

4. Transformation of Sentences - Simple, Compound and Complex. Voices, Direct Speech and Indirect Speech. 

Part B General Knowledge and Teaching Aptitude

1. Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general knowledge of the environment around him and its application to society.

2. Questions will also be designed to test knowledge of current events and of such matters of every day observation and experience in their scientific outlook as is expected of an educated person.

3. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighboring Countries especially pertaining to History, Culture, Geography, Ecology, Economics, General Policy and Scientific Research.

4. Teaching requires certain characteristics like ability to communicate, ability to deal with Children, ability to recognize individual differences etc., apart from analytical thinking and general intelligence. One who has these characteristics will be able to become a good teacher after training. Questions relating to these aspects will be included to test one’s teaching aptitude.

Part C: One of the following subjects to be opted: 

1. Mathematics (MS)

2. Physical Sciences (Physics and Chemistry) (PS)

3. Biological Sciences (Botany and Zoology) (BS)

4. Social Studies (Geography, History, Civics and Economics) (SS) (For these four subjects Syllabus shall be of graduation level (revised common core degree syllabus)

5. English [Special English in B.A.]

The Syllabus for Part C for Subject: English shall cover

a) Syllabus pertaining to English for Classes VIII, IX and X and that for the Two-Year Intermediate course of A.P-50 Questions (50 Marks)

APEdCET 2023

Registration Fee :

  • Rs. 450/- for SC/ST
  • Rs. 500/- for BC
  • Rs. 650/- for OC

Admission process

Applications should be submitted through online only.

Fee once paid will not be refunded.

Eligible candidates may submit their applications through Online modeonly, by paying the application registration and processing fee of Rs. 650/- (Rs. 500/- for BC and Rs. 450/- for SC/ST).

Applicants should download hall tickets from website https://sche.ap.gov.in/edcet only.

The appearance at APEdCET 2023 does not entitle any candidate to be considered for entry into the course automatically.

Qualifying Marks

The qualifying marks in the Entrance Test for all candidates (except SC/ST) are 37 out oftotalmarks (i.e. 25%).

For the candidates belonging to SC/ST communities, there will be no qualifyingmarks for ranking.

There will be no minimum qualifying marks for women in PhysicalSciences/ Mathematics methodologies.

Rank List

Candidates will be ranked in each methodology in the order of merit on thebasis of marks obtained in APEdCET 2023 examination.

Where there is a tie in total marks, Part-C marks will be taken into account to decide relative ranking. In case of further tie, themarks obtained in Part-A will be taken into account to decide relative ranking.

In case of candidates getting equal marks in each of the parts of the test paper, they shall bebracketed for the purpose of award of rank.

At the time of admission into the course, ageshall be taken into consideration for relative ranking among the bracketed candidates and theolder candidates shall be given priority.

The rank obtained in APEdCET 2023 is valid for entry into B.Ed. course for the academicyear 2023-2024 only.
