Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) 2020 - Kerala Government has advertised a notification of Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) February 2020 to select teachers for Category I (Lower Primary Classes) Category II (Upper Primary Classes) Category III (High School Classes) and Category IV (for Language Teachers - Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu (up to UP classes), Specialist Teachers (Art & Crafts) and Physical Education Teachers.

Kerala Education Department published the examination date and time table schedule for the Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (KTET) conducted in February 2020

About KTET

  • Govt. of Kerala conducts KTET
  • The persons recruited as teachers possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at all levels of schooling. It is the exam to assess the eligibility of teacher candidates for Lower Primary, Upper Primary and High School Classes in Kerala. Separate Test are conducted to select teachers for Category I (Lower Primary classes), Category II (Upper Primary classes) and Category III (High School classes)
  • Test will be conducted by Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala in accordance with the guidelines published by SCERT Kerala and such other Rules/Regulations/Instructions/Policies laid down by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE)/Dept. of General Education/Govt. of Kerala

Name of the Examination: Kerala Teacher Eligibility Test (K-TET) February 2020

  • Category I: Teachers for Lower Primary Classes
  • Category II: Teachers for Upper Primary Classes
  • Category III: Teachers for High School Classes
  • Category IV: Language Teachers, Specialist Teachers and Physical Education Teachers

KTET 2019 Exam Pattern

Paper Pattern for Category-I

  • There will be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four distracters. Each question carries one mark. There will be four alternatives out of which one will be the correct answer. The total number of MCQs shall be 150
  • Child Development & Pedagogy (relevant to age group 6-11) /Mathematics/Environmental Studies: 30 (MCQs), 30 (Marks)
  • Language-I: Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada: 30 (MCQs), 30 (Marks)
  • Language-II: English /Arabic* 30 (MCQs), 30 (Marks)

 

Paper Pattern for Category-II

  • There will be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) with four distracters. Each question carries one mark. There will be four alternatives out of which one will be the correct answer. The total number of MCQs shall be 150
  • Child Development and Pedagogy (relevant to age group 11-14): 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
  • For Mathematics and Science teachers: Mathematics and Science or (b) For Social Science teachers: Social Science or (c) for any other teachers (a) or (b): 60 (MCQs); 60 (Marks)
  • Language I-Malayalam/Tamil/Kannada/English: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
  • Language II-(Other than Language I) Malayalam/English: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)

 

Paper Pattern for Category-III

  • There shall be one paper in this category. All questions will be of Multiple Choice type (MCQs) each carrying one mark
  • Adolescent Psychology, Theories of Learning and Teaching Aptitude: 40 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
  • Language: Malayalam / English/Tamil /Kannada: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
  • Subject specific areas (Content & Pedagogy): 80 (MCQ); 80 Marks
  • Total: 150 (Multi Choice Questions); 150 (Marks)

  • There will be only one paper in this category. All questions will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), each carrying one mark. There will be four alternative s out of which one will be the correct answer
  • Child Development, Pedagogy & Teacher Aptitude: 30 (MCQs); 30 (Marks)
  • Language Malayalam/English/Tamil/Kannada: 40 (MCQs); 40 (Marks)
  • Subjects specific paper (Content & Pedagogy): 80 (MCQs); 80 (Marks)
  • Total: 150 (Multi Choice Questions); 150 (Marks)

 

Qualifying Marks

  • A person who scores 60% or more in the K-TET examination will be considered ‘KTET passed’ or ‘K-TET qualified’. This will be the qualifying marks for all categories
  • Negative Marks: There shall be no negative marks for the test
  • Qualifying Marks: A person who scores 60% or more in the K-TET examination will be considered ‘KTET passed’ or ‘K-TET qualified’. This will be the qualifying marks for all categories. Negative Marks: There shall be no negative marks for the test

 

KTET 2020 Syllabus

Syllabus of the K-TET for Category I, II, III & IV will be published by SCERT Kerala in the website www.scert.kerala.gov.in and the Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala www.keralapareekshabhavan.in

Exam Centres

  • Pareeksha Bhavan, Kerala reserves the right to identify the examination centre anywhere in the State of Kerala
  • Examination centres will be announced after inviting applications from the candidates. Provision to opt a district/educational district is provided in the application form

Eligibility

Educational Qualification

Candidates applying for Kerala TET should possess following educational qualifications:

Category I

Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and two-year Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Examination, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. or Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 45% marks and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (by whatever name known), in accordance with the NCTE (Recognition Norms and Procedure) Regulations 2002 or Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). or Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education) 

Category II

B.A/ B.Sc./ B.Com. and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education/ Trained Teachers’ Certificate (TTC) [by whatever name known] conducted by Board of Exam, Govt. of Kerala or its equivalent. or BA/ B.Sc. / B.Com with at least 45% marks and one-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed.), in accordance with NCTE (Recognition, Norms and Procedure) regulations issued from time to time in this regard or Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.). or Higher Secondary/ Senior Secondary (or its equivalent) with at least 50% marks and 4 year BA/ B.Sc.Ed or B.A. Ed or B.Sc.Ed

 Category III

BA/ BSc/ B.Com with at least 45% marks and a B.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned (from any one of the Universities in Kerala or have acquired these qualifications from any other Universities recognized as equivalent thereto)

For Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology, those who have MSc.Ed. Degree in the subject concerned with not less than 50% marks from one of the Regional Institutes of Education sponsored by NCERT will be eligible to apply. For Botany and Zoology subjects, those with MSc. Ed. Degree in Life Science with not less than 50% marks from any of the Regional Institutes of Education are eligible to apply.

 Category IV

Those who have acquired qualifications for the posts of Language Teachers of Arabic, Hindi, Sanskrit & Urdu (up to Upper Primary level), Specialist teachers & Physical Education teachers as mentioned in Chapter XXXI of Kerala Education Act and Rules are eligible to apply for K-TET IV.

 Age Limit

There is no age limit prescribed for candidates appearing for K-TET

Admission process

For online submission of application, visit at the websites of Pareeksha Bhavan www.keralapareekshabhavan.in  and www.bpekerala.in.

There are two steps for submitting the application:

First Step (Fee Payment)

Log on to the official website of Pareeksha Bhavan. Click on ‘K-TET February  2020' and select K-TET online application step-1(Follow the process as mentioned in the instructions and screen shot of fee payment which is published in the website along with the notification)

The candidates have to fill the required details as in the instructions here and click Submit button. Click the confirm button only after verifying the submitted details.

The candidates will have the option to select the mode of payment of examination fee either by credit/debit Card, Net banking or other mode of payment by challan. If the fee is paid through Net Banking, Credit/Debit cards, the payer will get a transaction ID which can be used for the reference to enter the second step of online application.

If the fee is paid through Chelan i.e, by taking the print out of the Challan form the website and remit the amount to any of the branches of SBI. The SB collect reference No. which is printed in the Challan can be used for the reference to enter the second step of online application.

Second Step

Only the fee paid candidates can give the details in the second step. From the official website of Pareeksha Bhavan, Click on K-TET 2020 February  and select K-TET online application Step-2.

You have to enter the Transaction Id/SB collect reference No., Date of Birth and mobile number in the login screen. The application form will appear with certain details you had entered earlier Fill in the vacant windows.

The application will be void in case the FINAL SUBMIT button is not clicked. Take a print out of the application after FINAL SUBMIT.

 

Applicants required to pay the Exam Fee of Rs.500/- for each category and Rs.250/- for SC/ ST and differently able categories through online.
