The UPSC CAPF AC 2018 Notification has been released on 25th April by the Union Public Service Commission.

This year total 398 vacancies are released for Assistant Commandants (ACs) Posts in the Central Armed Police Forces.

The Examination will be held at the following Centres : AGARTALA, GANGTOK, PANAJI (GOA), AHMEDABAD, HYDERABAD, PATNA, AIZAWL, IMPHAL, PORT, BLAIR, ALLAHABAD, ITANAGAR, RAIPUR, BANGALORE, JAIPUR, RANCHI, BAREILLY, JAMMU, SAMBALPUR, BHOPAL, JORHAT, SHILLONG, CHANDIGARH, KOCHI, SHIMLA, CHENNAI, KOHIMA, SRINAGAR, CUTTACK, KOLKATA, THIRUVANANTHAPURAM, DEHRADUN, LUCKNOW, TIRUPATI, DELHI, MADURAI, UDAIPUR, DHARWAD, MUMBAI, VISHAKHAPATNAM, DISPUR, NAGPUR.

The centres and the date of holding the examination as mentioned above are liable to be changed at thediscretion of the Commission. Applicants should note that there will be a ceiling on the number ofcandidates allotted to each of the Centres, except Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata and Nagpur. Allotment ofCentres will be on the “first-apply-first allot” basis, and once the capacity of a particular Centre is attained,the same will be frozen.

Applicants, who cannot get a Centre of their Choice due to ceiling, will be requiredto choose a Centre from the remaining ones.

Applicants are, thus, advised that they may apply early so thatthey may apply early so that they could get a Centre of their choice.

Selection Procedure/Scheme:  

(i) Written Examination:

Paper I: General Ability and Intelligence - 250 Marks

The questions in this paper will be of Objective (Multiple Answers) Type in which the questions will be setin English as well as Hindi.

Paper II: General Studies, Essay and Comprehension - 200 MarksIn this paper candidates will be allowed the option of writing the Essay Component in English or Hindi, butthe medium of Precis Writing, Comprehension Components and other communications/ language skills will 8be English only. 

(ii) Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests: Candidates who are declared qualified in the written examination will be summoned for PhysicalStandards/ Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests. Those candidates who meet theprescribed Physical Standards, specified in Appendix-VI, will be put through the Physical EfficiencyTests as indicated below : 

Physical Efficiency Tests (PET):

(a) 100 Meters race:

Males: In  16 seconds

Females: In 18 seconds

(b) 800 Meters race:

Males: In 3 minutes 45 seconds

Females: In 4 minutes 45 seconds

(c) Long Jump:

Males: 3.5 Meters (3 chances)

Females: 3.0 meters (3 chances) 

(d) Shot Put:

Males: (7.26 Kgs.) 4.5 Meters

Pregnancy at the time of PET will be a disqualification and pregnant female candidate will be rejected.

(iii) Interview/Personality Test: Candidates who are declared qualified in the Medical Standards Tests, will be called for Interview/Personality Test to be conducted by Union Public Service Commission.

(iv) Final Selection / Merit: The merit list will be drawn on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

Eligibility

(I) Nationality: No person who is not a citizen of India shall, except with the consent of the CentralGovernment signified in writing be appointed or employed under these Rules.Provided that nothing contained in these rules shall debar the appointment, enrolment oremployment of a subject of Nepal or Bhutan under these Rules.

(II) Sex: Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of AssistantCommandants.

(III) Age Limits: (a) A candidate must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 yearson 1st August, 2018, i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1993 and not laterthan 1st August, 1998.

(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable.

  • upto a maximum of 5 years if a candidate belongs to SC/ST.
  • upto a maximum of 3 years in the case of candidates belonging to OBC.
  • upto a maximum of 5 years for Civilian Central Government Servants in accordance withthe existing instructions of the Central Government. Ex-Servicemen will also be eligible forthis relaxation. However the total relaxation claimed on account of Government Servicewill be limited to five years.
  • upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State ofJammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December,1989. 

Admission process

Fee: Candidates (excepting Female/SC/ST candidates who are exempted from payment of fee) are requiredto pay a fee of Rs. 200/- (Rupees Two Hundred Only) either by depositing the money in any Branchof SBI by cash, or by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Visa/Master/RuPayCredit/Debit Card. 

(a) Candidates are required to apply Online using the link www.upsconline.nic.in Detailedinstructions for filling up Online Applications are available on the above mentioned website.

(b) The applicants are advised to submit only single application. However, if due to any unavoidablesituation, he/she submits another/multiple applications, then he/she must ensure that applicationwith the higher RID is complete in all respects like applicants details, examination centre, photograph,signature, fee etc. The applicants who are submitting multiple applications should note that only theapplication with higher RID (Registration ID) shall be entertained by the Commission and fee paidagainst one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID.

(c) All candidates, whether already in Government Service, Government owned industrialundertakings or other similar organisations or in private employment should submit theirapplications direct to the Commission.Persons already in Government service, whether in permanent or temporary capacity or as workchargedemployees other than casual or daily rated employees or those serving under the PublicEnterprises are however, required to inform in writing their Head of Office/Department that theyhave applied for the Examination.Candidates should note that in case a communication is received from their employer by theCommission withholding permission to the candidates applying for/appearing at the examination,their application will be liable to be rejected/ candidature will be liable to be cancelled.
