Biotechnology is a multidisciplinary area on the educational scene and programmes have been developed to meet the growing demand for trained manpower for any meaningful Biotechnology activity in the country. The programmes are designed to expose the students to recent exciting developments in the area of genetic engineering and biotechnology and their exploitation in industry, agriculture and medicine.

Eligibility

MSc (Biotechnology): Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3 pattern of education in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary and FisherySciences, Pharmacy, Engineering/Technology, 4-years B.Sc. (Physician Assistant Course); OR Medicine (MBBS) OR B.D.S.with at least 55% marks.

MSc (Agri- Biotechnology): Bachelor’s degree under 10+2+3/ 4/ 5 pattern of education with at least 55% marks or its equivalent grade point averagefrom any recognized university in the concerned subjects.

MTech (Biotechnology): Minimum 60% marks or equivalent CGPA (under grading system) from any recognized university 

a) Reservation: 15%, 7½% and 3% of seats shall be reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Person with Disability (PWD) candidates (with not less than 40% disability) respectively. All the SC/ ST and PWD candidates who have passed the qualifying examination are eligible to apply irrespective of their percentage of marks in the qualifying examination. OBC reservation, wherever applicable, will be implemented as per the policy of each participating University. For admissions at Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, reservation policy of government of Maharashtra will be applicable (i.e. 61%, 13%, 7% and 19% seats shall be reserved for General category, Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and OBC candidates respectively)

b) Concession for Kashmiri Migrants: 10% marks will be added to the overall marks scored by a Kashmiri migrant candidate in the Entrance Examination. After adding 10% marks, in case he/she is covered in the cut-off point in the merit list, he/she will be offered admission strictly in accordance with his/her inter-se merit along with other candidates subject to his/her meeting the minimum prescribed eligibility requirements and also subject to his/her producing validregistration documents issued by the notified authorities certifying the candidate’s Kashmiri migrant status.

Admission process

Entrance Examination Fee: The entrance examinatin fee is Rs. 1000/- for general category candidatesincluding OBC candidates and Rs. 500/- for the candidates belonging to SC/ST and Person with Disabilitycategories. The entrance examination fee for Foreign Nationals is US$ 40.00 or Rs. 2640/-.

Before you proceed to register yourself for entrance examination you must ensure that you have read and understood the eligibility criteria as given in the prospectus for each discipline / programme of study for which you intend to take the entrance examination .

You should fill your correct basic and academic details like Name, DOB, Address, Contact No., Email-id and Discipline / programme of study .

Choose your password 8 characters. Please remember your password and don’t share with others.

Before final submission of online Application form, read the declaration carefully and give your consent on it. You are required to upload a recently taken scanned photograph and signature in JPG format (preferable width 150px and height 200px) and size less than 20-50 KB. Signature size should be less than 10-20 KB(preferable width 140px and height 60px). The maximum file size for Photo and Signature is 50 KB, failing which you will not be able to complete your application. So you must check your information details carefully before final submission of your application form.

Keep mobile Phone handy while filling the form and the user credentials are sent in the given email id for further login.

No written acknowledgement will be issued for the receipt of the application. However, the candidate can verify application status on JNU website after a fortnight of submission. If you see any discrepancy, call us on Phone No. 8010-855-855.

After successful filling of On-line Application Form, a Confirmation Page will be generated for each and every candidate bearing the entire information as filled in by the candidate by them along with a Unique Application Number which the candidate can use in future correspondence. Registration number will be allotted at the time of Admit card generation.

The candidates are required to take a printout of confirmation page and retain the same for their record but need not send the same to JNU.
