CLAT 2019 (Common Law Admission Test) 2019

Exam Details:

The Consortium of National Law Universities  aim to improve the standard of legal education in the country and justice system. It was established on 19th August, 2017. It has a head quarters in NLSIU, Bengaluru.

The Consortium is intended to provide for better coordination amongst National Law Schools to achieve highest standards of legal education in the country. 21 National Law Universities have joined the Consortium as founder members.

CLAT 2019 Exam is Offline.

Pattern of Question Papers for admission to UG Programme in CLAT 2019

(a) Maximum Marks : 200

(b) Duration of CLAT-2019 Exam : 02:00 Hours

(c) Multiple-Choice Questions : 200 questions of one mark each

(d) Subject areas with weightage:

  1. English including Comprehension : 40 Marks
  2. General Knowledge and Current Affairs : 50 Marks
  3. Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability) : 20 Marks
  4. Legal Aptitude : 50 Marks
  5. Logical Reasoning : 40 Marks

(e) Negative Marking : 0.25 Mark for each wrong answer.

Pattern of Question Papers for admission to PG Programme in CLAT 2019

(a) Maximum Marks : 150

(b) Duration of CLAT-2019 Exam : 02:00 Hours

(c) Multiple-Choice Questions : 150 questions of one mark each  Questions will be asked from the following areas of law:

  1. Constitutional Law : 50
  2. Jurisprudence : 50
  3. Other law subjects : 50

such as Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, Environment Law and Human Rights

(e)  Negative Marking : 0.25 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Eligibility:

UG Programme

Age: No upper age limit for UG Programme in CLAT 2019.

Candidate must have to pass 10+2 with minimum percentage of marks as follows-

  • 45%  marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories, and
  • 40% marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.

Candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination in March/April, 2019 are also eligible to appear in CLAT-2019 online examination.

In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by the following procedure and order as under:

Higher marks in the component /section on legal aptitude in the CLAT-2019 exam;

Higher age;

Computerised draw of lots.

PG Programme

Age: No upper age limit for PG Programme in CLAT 2019.

Candidate must have to pass  LL.B./Five-Year Integrated LL.B. (Hons.) any other equivalent exam with minimum percentage of marks as follows

  • 55% marks in case of candidates belonging to Unreserved/OBC/Specially Abled Persons (SAP) and other categories, and
  • 50% marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST) categories.

In case of equal marks, the break of tie shall be by procedure and order as under:

Higher age, Computerized draw of lots.

How To Apply:

The applications has to be submitted ONLINE only from website clatconsortiumofnlu.ac.in

The admission to UG and PG programmes in participating universities under CLAT-2019 shall be completed through centralised online counselling conducted by the CLAT Consortium Office. 

Documents to be uploaded with the Online Application

  • Front facing passport size recent photograph with plain background
  • Signature of the candidate
  • Category certificate if you are applying under SC/ST/OBC
  • Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you are applying if candidate is P.W.D
  • Relevant certificate issued by competent authority if you are coming under BPL category
  • Relevant certificate for your respective State of Domicile. Issued by revenue department/taluk office. Please note that this upload is optional at the time of application. However, you will need to produce this document at the time of admission, if you are claiming reservation under the domicile category.

Application Fee

For General/OBC/PWD/NRI/PIO/OCI candidates: Rs.4,000/-

For SC/ST/BPL category candidates: Rs.3,500/-

The cost of previous years' question papers is Rs.500/- (not included in the CLAT-2019 application fee of Rs.4,000/- or Rs.3,500/- as the case may be.)

The candidates themselves will have to bear the bank transaction charges for remitting the fee online. The actual bank transaction charges will be displayed in the payment gateway page after you choose the mode of payment.

Application Fees is non-refundable.
