Eligibility and Selection Procedure for MS by Research in Indian Institute of Technology - GuwahatiInterested candidates must hold a Degree in B.E/B.Tech/M.Sc.or equivalent in any discipline.
Minimum Marks: Minimum CPI of 6.0 in a 10-point scale or a minimum of 60% of total / aggregate marks in Qualifying Degree.
Relaxation in Minimum Marks for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates: The minimum marks requirement is relaxed by lowering 0.5 in CPI or 5% in marks for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates
Regular with GATE/NET-JRF
The candidates under this category must have valid GATE score or NET-JRF.
The final admission to the candidates under this cateogry is based on the performance in the written test and / or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credential of the candidates, etc.
Regular & IIT BTech or B.Des without GATE/ NET-JRF
The candidates under this category must have BTech or BDes degree from one of the IITs with a minimum CPI / CGPA of 8.0 in a 10-point scale.
They are exempted from the requiement of valid GATE score.
The final admission to the candidates under this cateogry is based on the performance in the written test and / or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credential of the candidates, etc.
Sponsored & Full Time without GATE/NET-JRF
The candidates under this category are sponsored (with salary and study leave for 24 months) by a recognized R&D organization, academic institution, governmental organization or industry for doing MS(R) at IIT Guwahati.
The candidate under this category must be a regular employee of his/her organization with at least 1 (one) year of experience at the time of admission and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought.
They should submit Sponsorship Letter in prescribed format from the employer along with the application. The application without Sponsorship Letter will NOT be considered.
The final admission to the candidates under this category is based on the performance in the written test and/ or interview conducted by the concerned academic department/ center, academic credentials of the candidates, etc.
Employed & Part Time without GATE/ NET-JRF
The candidates under this category are professionally employed personnel (including regular employees of IIT Guwahati), who can attend classes in the first year at the Institute while employed. These candidates should be able to attend regular classes as per the schedule of the Institute.
The candidate under this category must be a regular employee of his/her organization with at least 1 (one) year of experience at the time of applying and be engaged in professional work in the discipline in which admission is sought.
They should submit No Objection Certificate in prescribed format from the employer along with the application. The application without No Objection Certificate will NOT be considered.
